Nice to meet you! Dairiki is my last (family) name. My great-grandfather immigrated to the US (from the Hiroshima area) in the early 1900s, so there are a few of us Dairikis in the US. (All related, so far as I know.)

Was there today for the H.R. 9495 vote (bill that would have allowed labeling nonprofits as terrorist supporting organizations).
Voted no, of course - but I do want to report that the activism DID work and persuaded members.
I thought itโd be a lonely NO vote, which we take often. It wasnโt.

With our two, sometimes one will decide to pee on something at the same time the other is sniffing it. (Currently, we have two intact males, but previously we had a neutered male and female, and they did the same thing.)

Two Glen of Imaal Terriers, napping on our bed.
If there's nothing to hunt or chase, Glens are typically pretty chill, friendly, and full of personality. Here's our two in bed-potato mode.

Thankfully, I don't think this is tested often, these days.
Up until the 1960s, though, Glens had to pass a test against a live badger to earn their Irish (conformation) Championship.

They are tenacious. The AKC breed standard (but not the Irish KC standard) describes Glens using the somewhat gruesome phrase "dead game".
"Game" is a term used to describe courageous dogs who won't back down even against long odds. "Dead game" literally means they'll fight to the finish.

There is some contention about whether Glens were really developed as turnspits. The Glen of Imaal is a rugged farming region and Glens were the farm dogs of the region.
It seems doubtful that there were estates that consumed enough meat to warrant a kitchen with a dog-powered spit in the area.

It turns out that I can set my "handle" to match my domain name. I am now @dairiki.org. Cool! ๐
