At the last election I let govt parties onto my ballot paper for the first time ever, the bottom of it, just to keep the fash out. If the govt now wants to reconsider immigration policies, I'll consider them as the fash. #SpeirGhorm

We are one year on from the promise made by Simon Harris and Micheál Martin that if elected again they would pass the Occupied Territories Bill.
Ireland has a President elected on that platform.
And An Tánaiste does this.

Mr Gannon said Mr Harris was speaking as if he were not in power.

“I think if the average punter on the street said that, you would have to say, fair enough, there does seem to be a huge amount of challenges in the system, but this is the second authority of the State, the Tánaiste,

“There is absolutely lags within the system. People are being caught up within that for years, but that’s a failure of management. We have a management crisis in this country and Simon Harris is fairly much to the fore of responsibility for that.”

ChatGPT cited a paper of mine which I did not know existed, so I asked it for the link to it.
Unfortunately that link to the Nature website just gave a "Page not found".
So sad.

Nearly 150,000 people migrated to Ireland in the 12 months to April 2024, the largest number in 16 years, according to the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO said more than 149,000 people immigrated over that time period, the third successive year in which incomings numbered more than 100,000.
Some 30,000 of that number were returning Irish citizens, 27,000 came from elsewhere in the EU, and nearly 87,000 were other nationalities.
Just 5,400 of the incoming cohort were British citizens.
The vast majority of those entering Ireland, some 77,200 people, were aged between 25 and 44, the CSO said, with those aged between 25 and 34 showing the highest migration flows.
The lowest proportion of people entering Ireland were those aged over 65, who accounted for just 3% of the movement noted.
Aside from other EU countries and Britain, citizens of India, Brazil, and Ukraine were the most likely to move to Ireland.

One of the richest countries in the world with billions in surplus, but has a massive housing crisis it can't (won't) solve, so young Irish people still have to move away to Australia, New Zealand etc. to have a somewhat decent life...and naturally this has become immigrants' fault now.
