My spending power is approximately the same as it was in 2016 and in that time I've literally got a promotion and picked up a side hustle.
It's all "minimum wage went up 5% while high earnings only went up 1%" and like yeah ok a small percentage of a big number is still bigger than a big percentage of a small number, maths geniuses.
Like the other thing that's always ignored is that we're, what, 18 years into a grinding period of austerity, wage suppression, low growth and smashing of the public sector. The trajectory is down. The world is on fire. Forest vs trees, man.
There is no such thing as a billionaire.
I don't say this lightly: these people have no plan at all for how to deal with severe supply shocks, oil at $150 or even $200 a barrel, and long-term disruptions to the US economy. Everyone should plan accordingly.
