Erna de Vries, überlebte die KZs Auschwitz und Ravensbrück. Als Zeitzeugin kämpfte sie mit großem Engagement dafür,dass die Verbrechen der Nazis nie vergessen werden. Sie setzte sich bis zu ihrem Lebensende dafür ein, die Geschichte all derer zu erzählen, die es selbst nicht mehr tun konnten.

Werner Seelenbinder war Ringer und Teil des kommunistischen Widerstandes gegen den Naziunrechtsstaat. Am 4. Februar 1942 wurde er verhaftet. Nach über 2 Jahren Haft in KZs und Zuchthäusern wurde er zum Tode verurteilt und am 24. Oktober 1944 im Zuchthaus Brandenburg enthauptet.



Austrian composer and opera conductor Paul Csonka was born #OTD in 1905. Accused of spying in the US, in 1938 he and his wife exiled to Cuba where he built an opera scene to rival Europe and became a celebrity there.
