I remember this stupid B movie from the 1990s called Solar Crisis, in which they tried to trigger a CME to prevent the flare from hitting the Earth. The unbelievable part was that some insane billionaire wanted to sabotage the attempt to trigger the CME. Now it doesn't seem to unbelievable anymore.
