When I had an autoimmune disease as a child and was having chemotherapy, I couldn't be vaccinated. I relied on herd immunity. I often think about this when I read these stories and wonder what people making these 'choices' would say

The business secretary Jonathan Reynolds says the racist protesters intimidating asylum seekers in Epping are "upset for legitimate reasons.โ€
I don't remember any Labour frontbencher saying the same about people protesting the genocide in Gaza. On the contrary, they've criminalised peaceful dissent.

How many more versions of this will we read?! Sarah Brouillette's work on publishing as feminised labour is crucial here; as we have always known, in any area, 'more women' always equals 'too many'

Universities arenโ€™t often spoken of as โ€˜brands,โ€™ but Warwick leans into that idea. What does thinking of a university as a brand unlockโ€”and what can it achieve when done well?
Seeing a university as a brand unlocks coherence and confidence. A brand is about more than design, itโ€™s about identity and consistency. When you align your values, your story and your impact, you become more than a place, you become a movement. At Warwick, brand isnโ€™t just a communications tool, itโ€™s a strategic asset. It helps us attract brilliant minds, forge global partnerships and create a distinctive space in a competitive world. When done well, a brand doesnโ€™t limit, it liberates.

What drew you to the world of higher education, and how do you see its role evolving in society today?
My journey from the world of luxury into higher education has been one of purpose and transformation. After years of working with global brands, I was drawn to higher education as the next frontier of influence, a space where knowledge, identity, and opportunity intersect. Universities arenโ€™t just places of learning, they are platforms for societal impact. Their role today is to be both anchor and catalyst: rooted in rigorous teaching and research, yet agile enough to respond to global challenges and cultural shifts.

How has your background in the luxury sector shaped the way you approach storytelling and brand building at the University of Warwick?
Working across premium and luxury sectorsโ€”fashion, real estate, travel and beyondโ€”taught me the value of emotion, detail, and differentiation. In those worlds, a brand isnโ€™t just a badge, itโ€™s an experience, a feeling, a story that lives in peopleโ€™s hearts. At the University of Warwick, Iโ€™ve brought that same mindset to higher education: crafting narratives that are both strategic and human.

Self-inflicted embarrassment for the University of Warwick โ€” first it rebrands hyper-generically, then someone totally unhinged decides the *front page of the uni website* should say โ€˜Learn more about our Brandโ€™.

UK university job cuts put at 20,000 after full impact โ€˜hiddenโ€™ Number of roles affected could be almost double previous estimates when voluntary schemes and hiring freezes factored in, say researchers

'Rebecca Harrison, a former lecturer at The Open University, said that the extent of the deterioration of job security in universities was โ€œalarmingโ€, adding that institutions had not been transparent about the extent of the cuts occurring in the sector.' 1/3

we would be in a much better state in this country if we stopped focusing on anointing a chosen few working class students into Oxbridge, and instead properly funded all the different sorts of universities that attract students from a wide range of backgrounds already
