Amazing! I wrote a little bit about David Cameron's shepherd's hut. I also wanted to write about Jacob Rees-Mogg's foray into Victorian scholarship but I thought better of it

I hope this happens, it should have months ago. My union was terrible (though my individual case worker colleagues were amazing) in organising against the cuts at my university. We need a national campaign against the devastation of the sector

This sounds fascinating and completely under researched! I was actually looking for material on this a while back when I was working on my book but found barely anything. I wanted to figure out why so many politicians have written such shitty books!

Open letter on the future of small press publishing in the UK The industry must work together to ensure the longevity of the UK’s independent presses.

The future of UK Independent presses hang by a thread. Supporting the sector is vital: this is where ALL the bravery lies. The big houses are risk averse, but copycat small press successes to revitalise their lists. Small presses are the motor!

I had a molar pregnancy (a rare kind of pregnancy complication) in 2022. Some leave for the aftermath would have helped greatly, rather than having to get a sick note from my GP. Thank you for this.

J. M. Coetzee’s β€œDisgrace” @ 25: A Roundtable - Public Books What freshly nuanced perspectives might we bring to the violent late 20th-century history Coetzee describes?

Really interesting roundtable on Coetzee's Disgrace at 25 years. I taught it a few years ago and it was a strange and challenging, but rewarding experience

A Pilgrimage to Monk’s House, Where Virginia Woolf Found a Room of Her Own I can’t say how long it’s been there, but I have an image in my mind of the place where writers work. I picture the writer; I picture the space; I conjure an atmosphere of quiet calm in which someo…

I'm sure Shabana Mahmood would be very annoyed to hear she's getting this news not in English, but my grandmother was too busy working as a cleaner all the hours of the day to get formal lessons
