When keeping track of my own backlog, I had a perspective shift thanks to a Transparency video awhile back (great YT channel). Instead of being focused on missed opportunities, I look at what I have completed. I focus on making the list of games I played bigger instead of making the backlog smaller.

Another is I’ve been playing a ton of Bravely default thanks to my friend’s recommendation and the remaster release. The best part about playing it is how relaxed I feel. I’m able to play around with the combat and just grind job levels for so long and it’s just been exactly what I needed right now.

a good few recent personal experiences that came to mind. I never finished Expedition 33 due to hitting a really bad month of depression right around when it released. I loved the game a ton and got pretty far but eventually stopped. I’ve only recently accepted that that’s ok, I can come back later

This was a really lovely article and a really great reminder to take things slow! I know I’ve fallen into the trap of feeling guilty for not finishing games or not playing as many games as other people. But nowadays I try to remember I play games because I want to experience a new perspective!

My friend @soapy5296.bsky.social had Edea with Salvemaker job at Level 10+, which gave her the ability Turn Toxic. So I linked her to my Edea, which helped me beat Chaugmar with Poison Elixirs and compounded Shadowflares. Your barrier means nothing to me when I can ignore it.

I love this game.

Im becoming more and more interested in Bravely second and Bravely II from hearing things about it, seems like they arent as well liked but I kinda wanna see for myself🤔

Don’t forget the music kicks ass, every tune is a freaking BOP!!!

It’s also nice since the game is super duper tightly designed. Side quests are always rewarding since they give new jobs, exploration is snappy, and it feels like every element was designed with the intent to make a satisfying JRPG game inside and out of battle

It’s been a perfect game to play in my free time. If I want more of the fairly interesting story and have the brainpower for it I make progress, if I had a rough day or just am particularly tired I can mess with builds and grind job levels.

So I’ve been really super duper enjoying Bravely Default. It feels like so much of what I love in an RPG on the gameplay side. A Job focused customization system, an interesting core mechanic that makes it unique, and tons of QoL that even make grinding levels relaxing.

Getting back into the swing of writing can be really tough sometimes. I have projects I’m sitting on and yet crossing the finish line can be difficult.

I do know I definitely wanna write about Deltarune and Slay the Princess. I just gotta get the ball on those rolling again. Tough stuff😓

I can also say as a trans woman that it's pretty scary since like you said, this opens the door for LGBTQ+ content to be flagged and censored.
It's overwhelming how many different ways harm manifests in actions from censorship. We gotta keep pushing back however we can. Thanks for that reminder🫂
