This sounds like an attempt to shut down government operations altogether, subject every federal government function to the president’s approval, and then allow the president to use funds deemed not consistent with his desires for whatever he wants—even if appropriated.

this is an illegal order. the president does not have the legal authority to discriminate against entire categories of americans on the basis of sex. this order is no different than if he had issued one reinstituting segregation.

i will say that we have never experienced anything like an administration trying to essentially freeze the activities of the entire federal government while making a series of illegal power grabs. genuinely unclear to me what kind of response, if any, these guys are generating against them

i think people who complain about the language police are, by and large, just cowards. say whatever you want! no one is going to stop you. but people may judge you or even, if you say the wrong thing in front of the wrong person, pop you in the mouth. but that’s life!
