Statistical Machine Learning for Astronomy -- A Textbook
This textbook provides a systematic treatment of statistical machine learning for astronomical research through the lens of Bayesian inference, developing a unified framework that reveals connections ...
An absolutely fantastic textbook on statistics and machine learning by Prof. Yuan-Sen Ting came out this week - and it's free! #astromethods ☄️
I had a read and it's incredibly comprehensive and well-written - I expect this to become *the* foundation book on stats & ML basics in astro.

Transit of #exoplanet WD 1856+534 b across its white dwarf host star.
An unusual system where we see a small white dwarf star partially occulted by a giant planet every 1.4 days, resulting in a much deeper decrease in brightness than most exoplanet transits.

A series of three images of a star showing bright and cool spots moving around and dated between July and August 2023
We started with some science hi-lights from NRAO this year, including this ridiculous (in a good way) image of convection cells on the surface of a star (that's not the Sun!) using 338GHz data from ALMA. www.nature.com/articles/s41... #astrosci 🔭
