A lot of people are making terrible business decisions right now because of this. It's not all bad, it's certainly not all good, and things are changing.

Sobriety will win out in the end, even if bc everything else fails.

There is still a strain of populist critical AI discourse that holds the technology is fundamentally worthless or fatally flawed. I think
Chris Hayes is at least right to call that a dead end.

For all our future focus, we have yet to address longstanding problems.

It baffles me that, rather than addressing them or exploring them more fully, many simply give up and turn to non-complex domains of study, lamenting or whining how they are more tractable.
