New commission finished!!

This neglected set of bagpipes belongs to the wonderfully lovely Rachael Tonge.

I don’t know what he’s called, but I’ve named him Art Carbuncle.

I'm giving a conference talk next week about the story behind our Bluesky account, which means I've spent much of the last week thinking about how to best articulate the advantages of sharing your hog on the Internet

This is who she was.
Passionate in her beliefs. Fiercely loyal to her friends. Never afraid to let you know exactly where she stood. The best.

Fun Fact: I remember arguing with her over which of us hated Piggy the most. I was sure I did. She disagreed. It remains unresolved...

A shower of hail took me by surprise. It was a little unpleasant, but the calm after it stopped was beautiful.

Everyone loves to talk about Mothman, but almost no one including those in the cryptozoology community is willing to talk about the biggest threat to its survival, Akanthomyces, the unapologetic moth-destroying fungus! #Mushrooms #FungiFriends

Even your older nature photos can help scientists today! As long as you know when and where you took the photos, you can post your nature sightings on iNaturalist anytime — and they'll still contribute to science and conservation. Got anything in your camera roll to share? 👀

The difference between sweet potatoes and yams » Colin Purrington's blog Every year at Thanksgiving, families in the United States sit down to argue about politics and the difference between sweet potatoes and yams. This page details how to tell them apart and explains how...

In several days you'll likely be sitting next to an ignorant relative who is 100% convinced he knows the difference between a sweet potato and a yam. Here's my primer on the topic. #thanksgiving #sweetpotato #yam #botany 🍠 colinpurrington.com/yams-versus-...

Moths come in all shapes and sizes and the unusual-looking Common Plume (Emmelina monodactyla) is a perfect example 🤩

They can often be found resting, with wings tightly rolled, on fence posts, walls, and even indoors.
