I didn't really get serious about learning to art for a long time because I would look at artists I admired and think, I can never do that. And I was right, I still can't do that, but along the way, I learned to do my own thing, and that is actually even more satisfying. Lean into being you πŸ’œ

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 3556: Most worlds don’t start with a map. They start with the view from your front door. By all means include maps if the spirit moves you, but your world is not going to come alive from there, but from what your characters see and know and experience for themselves.

Until I owned a herding dog, I didn't realize how much of young children's fashion is based around fuzzy coats with animal ears on the hoods.

Bafflingly there are still people out there in the world who think being passionate about nature is β€œkind of weird”. or β€œa niche interest”. These people have it all wrong. Nature isn’t some quirky sideline to the main business. It IS the main business. Nature is us.

It's a moment, isn't it? Exciting, but with an end-of-an-era nostalgia too. Wishing you a great new notebook.

Mail Order Magic March comes to you with Sunday Morning Transport stories by Stephanie Burgis, Eric Smith, Sarena Ulibarri, and Leah Cypess.

Today I'm really crashing with the M.E./CFS, which is no fun. However, it doesgive me the perfect excuse to remind everyone that I have a new cozy fantasy short story out! It involves M.E./CFS but also griffins and just a touch of sapphic romance. ;) www.sundaymorningtransport.com/p/mail-order...

I am working out of a public library and there are a good number of people who seem to be on hard times using the facilities for various reasons like job searching, entertainment, charging peripherals, using the bathroom, etc., and I am struck by how important it is that libraries continue to exist

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

All 50 States Have Now Introduced Right to Repair Legislation The legislation hasn't yet passed everywhere, but all 50 states introducing some form of right to repair legislation is a "tipping point” for the right to repair movement.

The Right to Repair movement has reached all 50 US states. Six states have already passed laws requiring companies to sell repair parts, share manuals, and remove software locks that restrict repairs, and 20 more are actively considering bills. buff.ly/BIzrTtt

Kitsune are the servants of Inari, kami of things that grow. Thus in many farms a fox in your field is not necessarily a bad thing, as it may reveal the boons of Inari's blessings: at many rural shrines in Japan, statues of kitsune represent this divine connection. #FolkyFriday

Happy International Women’s Day. There’s a long, powerful history of feminist activism that has achieved, in the face of relentless violent opposition, more change than anyone thought possible. That energy still exists. Solidarity matters.

There is an alternative to Government welfare cuts - a 2% tax on wealth. There is no shortage of money here, we just need a fairer approach to tax - take more from the few not the many.
