As a tax pro for many years, I know that being a Woman of Chaos is the only sane approach to your tax returns. The laws are illogical, self-defeating, and randomly applied. The rules spring up out of nowhere, die suddenly, and return years later in mutant forms. Embrace the chaos and you’ll be fine!
If “dull” means the Dear Leader didn’t manage to etch his name in the Liberty Bell, I’m good with that. Philadelphia is a tough city, and I don’t think we’d stand for it. But as a Philly girl, I kinda feel bad that we caused all that ruckus in 1776 and now we’ve come to this.
Eel and crab advent calendars are a huge hit at our house this year!

Absolutely! People have been listening to stories for thousands of years. And reading stories to a child is the sweetest way to pass on a love of books.
At the precise moment when we need oppositional journalism the most, our major news media institutions fail us.
Studying archaeology in Ireland sounds like the trip of a lifetime. I was a student there in the last millennium and loved it. I’m sure you will, too! Enjoy!
Great suggestion, thanks. (Sorry I didn’t reply sooner.) I’m also looking into the Lenfest Institute, which funds the Philadelphia inquirer.

Oh, I hope not! You’re the best museum on Bluesky! I suspect the 25% tariff backfired, yes?
Wow, I didn’t realize I had a choice! (You can tell I’m not a linguist.) But I understand exactly what you mean. How bout we ask the kid? Or better yet, let’s ask the make-believe baby.
Un-stem? Well, it’s not not a word!
We visited the Museum of Printing on a whim a couple of years ago while passing thru Haverhill. Very cool! I recommend a visit!
The world’s largest free-standing masonry building. A great building in a great city.
Wow, I live very close to this museum and never heard of it. Adding it to my To-Do list!
Acadia is our happy place, too! We have gone there every year for decades. But which pond is this? Upper Hadlock?
Well, happy birthday! Enjoy!
Welcome to Philadelphia and congratulations to your niece - from a fellow Temple grad. Philly is a wonderful, lively, down-to-earth city, full of history and culture. I love this town!
I’ve been to the PMA many times, it is a true Philly gem. Also a short walk to the Rodin Museum and the fabulous Barnes Museum.
I love audiobooks! I drive out of the parking lot after work with my head full of unfinished tasks and worries, and start listening to Charles Dickens as performed by an excellent reader, and when I arrive home 1/2 hour later, the job anxiety has completely vanished into 19th-century London.

I don’t post much (actually, never till now), but here goes: I’m interested in supporting nonprofit journalism & investigative reporting in these troubled times. There is ProPublica of course, and Center For Public Integrity. Suggestions, anybody? Based in SE Penna, if anyone has good local options.
Thanks, this explanation was very helpful to a non-linguist like me, especially the “common misperceptions”. There is so much complexity and nuance in human language, and yet it is literally child’s play to learn. (“I had no idea I’ve been speaking prose all my life!”)
Wow, this would be great for #librarians too!!! Toss in a bookmark and you’re good to go!
THEY LOVED THE ADVENT CALENDARS !!!!!
Ah, I see you are a realist, actually. Good idea.
For a person with 6 cats, this is very optimistic of you.
Coast of Maine with MDI at the bottom center! We visit there every year.
Gettysburg is the only one in Pennsylvania? Actually all are Civil War except B.
