Visa Requirements by Country Visa Requirements by Country

Brazil applies visa policies for different countries' citizens that are based on what those countries apply to Brazilian citizens (I misspoke about it being constitutional principle though): www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/co...

What's worse is that these puff pieces didn't even engage with the book on its own terms, which is that poor people and their "culture of poverty" are to blame for their lot in life. How did this guy manage to claim the populist mantle having written a book oozing in contempt for the poor?

I’m pretty sure the 11¢/kWh rate is *before* the 2¢ EV charging discount so it’s actually 9¢ overnight. Bananas.

The entire premise of the vice president’s book was applying discredited “culture of poverty” scholarship (previously used to pathologize African Americans) to explain the failings of poor white people. They even turned it into a Netflix movie!

Since 2023, SMUD has given me rebates covering half the cost of an induction stove, paid the full cost of a heat pump water heater, and covered about 60% of the cost to upgrade my panel to make my house EV ready. I also pay literally 1/9 the rate per kWh that PG&E customers pay. It’s amazing.

New York Times story about Trump gutting weather science and reducing disaster response

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz after touring "Alligator Alcatraz": "These detainees are living in cages. The pictures you've seen don't do it just. They are essentially packed into cages. 34 detainees per cage...they get their drinking water & they brush their teeth where they poop, in the same unit"

I can’t bring myself to watch it but curious if he, the principled anti-interventionist, supports Trump use of a trade war against Brazil in defense of his fellow coup orchestrator

One underrated aspect of Trump’s deranged letter announcing the 50% tariffs on Brazil is that he’s putting the bootlickers seeking to replace Bolsonaro as the leaders of the “patriota” right in a real bind

We are in new territory with Trump’s latest trade letter, threatening a 50% tariff on imports from Brazil starting Aug. 1
—The US runs a rare trade surplus with Brazil, so there’s no deficit to fix
—Trump says these duties are explicitly over political concerns, not economic ones

This piece is terrible, lazy, and uses the same bad faith nimby arguments that have indeed slowed needed infill housing production in CA for decades. Advocates for CEQA reform aren’t just “neoliberal” Atlantic writers. Just take a look at the organizations sponsoring these bills.

It’s absolutely brutal in soccer, where the beauty of the game relies on flow and only a couple of high leverage moments that are robbed of their spontaneity through endless VAR review
