Excellent day in Cornwall with Oli Smart catching up with the Booted Eagle at Marazion, the Bonapartes Gull at Sennen and a quick stop at Newquay for the very obliging Long-tailed Duck. #birds #ukbirds #twitching

We also had this incredible leucistic Yellow-billed Kite at Kartong... Utterly mesmerizing as it circled with the other Yellow-billed and Black Kites. (Although it did get a fair bit of stick from the others!) @naturetrek.bsky.social #birds #gambiabirds

Great day yesterday on the 2nd @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia in Style trip down at Kartong and Tanji. A real cracker in the form of African Pygmy Goose, and great views of African Green Pigeon, Grey-hooded Gulls and Yellow-billed Oxpeckers were great highlights. #birds

Saw in the New Year with a couple of days off in The Gambia between tours, so went upriver to look for a few sought after birds.... Ended up with 8 new, with superb views of Grey-headed Bushshrike, Temminck's Coursers, Dwarf Bittern and Chestnut-bellied Starling the stand outs performers

For Day 5 on the @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia in Style trip we spent the day around Pirang-Bontoo, Farasutu forest and Marakissa. Plenty of waders at Pirang, but Green Crombec, superb views of Wire-tailed Swallows and White-backed Night Heron stole the show! #birds

Superb day 4 on the @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia in Style trip as we explored the scrublands around Mandina in the morning, then went on a mangrove cruise in the afternoon. Plenty of cracking birds, with White-crested Helmetshrike, Klaas's Cuckoo, Goliath Heron and African Finfoot the best. #birds

Yesterday, we spent our 3rd day on the @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia in Style tour exploring Kembujeh Rice Fields and the scrubland near Mandina Lodge. A good bird filled day with superb views of Western Violet-backed Sunbird, White-crowned Robin-chat and Klaas's Cuckoo the stand outs. #birds

On the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia trip we spent our last day around Marakissa and Kotu and we had incredible views of Shining-Blue Kingfisher! Not an easy one to catch up with in the Gambia. West African Crocodiles were their usual selves and we had a great White-faced Scops Owl too #birds

The last couple of days of the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia tour were spent in the West of the country catching up with a few things. Farasutu Forest came up trumps with Guinea Turaco, Green Hylia, Greyish Eagle Owl and a very sneaky pair of White-backed Night Herons #birds

Day 10 on the @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia trip saw us on a boat trip in the mangroves from Tendaba Camp before heading back towards the west. Great views of Woolly-necked and Yellow-billed Storks from the boat and Black Scimiterbill and Copper Sunbird on roadside stops were the highlights. #birds

Great day 8 of the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia tour saw us drive along the South Bank towards Tendaba Camp. Couple of stops saw us bump into a huge mixed flock with great views of Yellow-bellied Hyliota, Brubru, Brown-backed woodpecker and a brief Yellow Penduline Tit the highlights. #birds

Day 7 on the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia trip turned out to be incredible. Boat trip up the River Gambia from Janjanbureh saw us have a brief but amazing fly by from a Shining-blue Kingfisher and amazing views of African Finfoot, African Fish Eagle and Red Colobus Monkey. #birds #gambia #tour
