The world loves to say it cherishes its elders, but once they aren’t politically or financially useful, a lot of major groups just dump them and go, “eh! If you matter, somebody will do it for you.”

1000%!!! They should have senior-friendly versions where it’s basically a super simplified version of an app. They don’t need to be able to personalize notifications or manage their profile info, they need to be able to accept video calls, contact their doctors, and share their screens, etc etc!

Living with a 91 year-old makes you go, damn!! We need to start normalizing things that allow seniors to maintain as much independence as possible, even when it’s entertainment!

Without the risk of managing to completely foul everything up. A lot of seniors can figure this stuff out, sure, but we grossly underestimate the intimidation factor that prohibits them just trying stuff out.

I can’t imagine the legality of it, but if I could just remotely check on my grandmother’s phone now and then to be sure she didn’t miss anything and whenever she goofs up settings, it would make two lives much easier. Likewise, I’d like to have her be able to use sites like YouTube on her TV, but

I don’t know how unique this situation of elderly people today being generally super unfamiliar with modern forms of tech because the roots of it didn’t really get started until they were already nearly seniors, but we desperately need more tech that has senior use in mind, including remote access.
