I spent way too long tweaking the details for what was meant to be a quick doodle 😭

yeah he starts speaking in the second game after being tortured for 2 years 😬
but why he didn't speak is never really explained
this was always weird to me with the first Jak and Daxter:
completely voiced story, protagonist has a name and a personality, makes vocal noises in-game.... silent in cutscenes for some reason :V

Besides aesthetics, an underwater setting could also involve currents, floating debris, darkness, unique enemy types, etc.
Could even have pockets of dry land that hinder you, rather than vice versa. Flooding a sunken temple so you can triple jump to a platform feels very in line with the series 🙌
I think there could be more ways to facilitate traversal than just using the gravity suit - the Grav Boost in MP2 is a good example.
Obstacles and upgrades broadly should be designed in tandem and compliment each other. Samus could acquire a full-on Aquatic Suit that lets her swim, even.
