Besides aesthetics, an underwater setting could also involve currents, floating debris, darkness, unique enemy types, etc.

Could even have pockets of dry land that hinder you, rather than vice versa. Flooding a sunken temple so you can triple jump to a platform feels very in line with the series 🙌

I think there could be more ways to facilitate traversal than just using the gravity suit - the Grav Boost in MP2 is a good example.

Obstacles and upgrades broadly should be designed in tandem and compliment each other. Samus could acquire a full-on Aquatic Suit that lets her swim, even.

the suit - I much prefer a physical suit over something she 'summons', but I also like the Chozo tech feeling very advance. The way I am currently thinking of it is that it is something she *can* remove piece-by-piece, but can also 'phase' into it if she chooses to

Yep! I liked the idea that the Chozo engrave aspects of their culture onto their armor/clothing.

Samus' base Power Suit has its own message that says something like "this is our daughter, please protect her"
