My sister is having her baby shower in November. This news brings a delighted "aww" from everyone I tell.

The news that my sister's baby shower is in Texas, however, has brought the same reaction from everyone I've told. Namely a sharp, concerned inhale.

Them stepping back won't make trans people any more heard or listened to. We aren't ignored because of cis allies. We're ignored because of media interests.

Guess what. We're too small a community to push them away or isolate ourselves. You don't have to like it. But understand that their voices objectively help us. Not just in a "maintain status quo" way. But in a "Maybe these people actually need support" way.
