( #NWSSeattle): 72 hour rainfall totals greater than an inch ending early this morning. You'll notice how much of Seattle has been shadowed. But when westerly winds slam warm, moisture laden air into mountains, you end up with 3 DAY TOTALS OF 12 TO 16 INCHES. Yes, more than a foot or rain. #WAwx

Everyone in our neighborhood seems to be dealing with water issues! That's what you get for 100-year-old houses though.

Feel kinda weird being so stressed by this when people are dealing with much, MUCH worse.

Since our little basement water crisis this morning, I've been opening the door and peaking into the basement basically every 15 minutes to make sure the sump pump is still working and it's not flooding again. And now I'm kind of afraid to go to bed and leave it unsupervised overnight.

Either Women, Race & Class by Angela Davis or one of those Chuck Tingle books. Hard to say.

Based on my survey of 4 people I talked to at school pickup, everyone has water in their basement today.

We live on top of a big hill and don’t have to deal with real flooding, but this relentless rain is stressful nonetheless. Just hoping the sump pump keeps pumping and the roof hangs on 🤞

Seattle is known for its rain, so to outsiders, this may seem like an ordinary occurrence, but it's not. It is REALLY REALLY wet right now and the rain keeps falling — not the persistent Seattle mist of yesteryear, but a continuous rain that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon.

Buying a house: Look at all this space in the basement for storage! This is great!

Owning a house with a basement: Well this fucking sucks 😂

Basements are like that, I think. The sensor on our sump pump malfunctioned. Luckily caught it with only an inch or so of water.

Just very very happy we spent a weekend cleaning out the basement last summer, or we’d be doing it now and it would be much worse.

You won’t hear me say this (or see me write this, more accurately) very often, but JFC it would be great if it could stop raining.

You land at D-Day, then you spend the rest of your life working for an insurance company, why not claim a little glory from elementary school kids?

I won Grandparents Day, obviously. No other kids had grandparents that cool. I'm not totally sure that's a true story, now that I think about it. But it could have been!

When I was in 2nd grade my Boston grandparents came out for a Grandparents Day event my school did. My grandpa told my class a story about taking a boat to school when his town flooded. Reminded of that because I feel like we may need a boat to get to school tomorrow! This rain is no joke!
