Flour sack #animation for my intro class. I opted for #2DAnimation instead of the provided model since I have been having more fun with drawings. I'm still learning the tools and processes so it's still a little rough but it's enjoyable nonetheless.

Ball obstacle course #animation for my intro class. I was dreading this one a bit at first but I ended up having a lot of fun with it.

Grass in the Wind assignment for my Intro to #Animation class. He said we can use any style we want and aren't restricted to Maya... So I chose #PixelArt! I wanted to add more refinement and detail but my time was very limited. I'm still happy with it, though

Pixel art of Princess Daisy of the Super Mario franchise dressed in her swimwear outfit featured in Mario Kart World. She is leaning forward slightly while winking and holding up the peace/victory sign with two fingers on her left hand while her right arm is bent behind her back.

Princess Daisy pixel art! I wanted to try my favorite Mario character and, since I adore her swimwear outfit from MKW, it was a lot of fun. I also got some practice with form and a pose... So... Win-win-win!

Tangle! I love this lemur so much!

I'm currently working on honing my own style and slowly increasing the resolution I work in. I'll be posting more of my progress as I create more.

Charcoal (grey scale) drawing of a man facing away from the viewer at a slight angle with his arms crossed. Long dark hair touches his shoulders and a hint of his glasses peek from the side of his face. He wears a mid-tone baggy shirt, loose fitting light-tone sweatpants, and mid-tone sneakers.

Figure practice with charcoal. Time limit was 10 minutes.

Charcoal copy of Max Beckmann's 'Still Life with Three Skulls' (1945).

In Max Beckmann's expressionist style, the piece contains typical still life objects: three skulls, a candle, a bottle, and playing cards on a dresser. The background shows three stained glass windows.

My copy of Max Beckmann's 'Still Life with Three Skulls' (1945) in charcoal. I was inspired by his expressionist style here and wanted to capture it myself.

Fun fact: Beckmann was critical of the Nazi regime - during which his paintings became more distorted and horrifying. Feels appropriate now

What do you do when you've lost the desire to work on any projects? How do you recover?

For the last week or so I have not had the motivation to code or draw anything. The thought of either does not excite me anymore.

Anyone have similar experiences? How did you overcome it, if you had?

I'm also not sure how I feel about a 2D character in a 3D world. I initially liked it but, now that I replayed it for the video, I'm not sure that I'm a fan of it anymore. Maybe more refined environments and lighting will improve my opinion on it

I'm a bit late in posting this video of my prototype of Starfallen (my final project for fall semester). It's... alright, I guess... I implemented Unreal's GAS but I ended up cutting the RPG elements I had planned out due to time constraints. Not sure if I should return to it or move on. Thoughts?

I grew up on games and have always loved them. But it was when I was really into WoW that I gained an interest in game design and development. I imagined what it's like designing new classes and spells or designing worlds to explore. I did some homebrewing for TTRPGs before diving into game dev

If you have some extra cash, Stephen Ulibarri (Druid Mechanics on YouTube) has a great course on UE5's GAS and C++ on Udemy. You can probably find it on sale. I've followed it and it has really helped my understanding of GAS.

Just start and don't quit, it will all start making sense eventually. Also, be careful with tutorial videos if you go that route. There's varying qualities out there - which sucks because I learn better by watching and doing rather than reading the documentation only.

Likely OW2 tonight and then Battlefield, Monster Hunter, or BG3 with friends tomorrow night.

Apparently, Bluesky doesn't support animated gifs yet? My last post was supposed to show my animations for Roxanne but I found out later it was static.

Instead, here's an mp4 with some weird pixel artifacts that I can't figure out - they're only in video renders and not in the gif or sprite sheet.

This is Roxanne. I originally designed this as my prototype for her, based on a guide. But due to time constraints, I reduced the size to the one above so that I can spend less time on the art and animation and more time on the project itself.

Hey. I'm an indie game dev and gamer that's new here. I'm trying to get better about posting my progress on projects and other gaming stuff that I'm interested in.

I'm back in uni to finish my bachelor's and I practice pixel art when I can.

Anyway, here's the player character for my final project.
