Both him and abbott claimed it would make girls and women β€œpromiscuous”.

When it was extended to men and boys they had no issue

I understand why she thought it would work though. The two most well known housing β€œadvocates” at the time were two wealthy men.

Neither come from families as wealthy as hers of course but both are still pretty well off.

This whole thread is about houses, no mention of apartments, units or townhouses.

Seems nimbyish tbh.

Remember when Barnaby and Abbot tried to ban these?

Only for women and girls they had no problem with men and boys having access to it.

*Excluded the libs

26.11.2025 23:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Of course it is, last years deal that the Greens and Labor agreed to included the libs as well.

Im not sure whos advising Payman but they did her a disservice by walking away from it last year.

26.11.2025 23:01 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

As much as labor rusties and greens cookers like to sling shit at each other both sides agreed to the deal last year. Payman pulled support so the bill was pulled.

Neither Labor or the Greens held this up.

26.11.2025 22:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes but is this different from the deal they backed last year?

Tbc both labor and the greens were onside last year it was Payman who walked away from it.

26.11.2025 22:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This look to be the same as what both sides agreed to last year.

Its just due to labors increase in the senate they dont need to worry about the independents this time.

Remember Payman pulled her support and Lidia was sidelined for telling Charlie some home truths.

26.11.2025 22:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It looks to be basically the same deal both sides agreed to last year?

I guess with labors increase no.s in the senate it was easier to pass with just the Greens now.

Australia records biggest annual drop in emissions outside pandemic Record output from renewable energy means emissions from coal plants are down as Australia’s greenhouse output has fallen for the first time in years.

How can this be when labor are apparently on the take?

This is great! Better for us as a country if the libs/nats are kept far far away from it.

And politically its been ahot minute since the Greens secured a win and Dolly P knows they need some.

I have a theory that the 50c fares in Brisbane will slow down any expansion to PT coverage not just in Brisbane but qld as a whole.

Activists who argued fare reductions would lead to an increase in services and usage have unsurprisingly gone to ground now they have what they wanted.

26.11.2025 20:32 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Our mates in Qld are contributing to this and its all be design.

β€œI’m not going to therapy, and I’ll make sure you damn well can’t either!”

Every politician in Australia.

He should have done it to force them to improve PT everywhere. Brisbanes coverage is pretty bad and it only gets worse in the other QLD cities

26.11.2025 06:39 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I would invite you to come and say this to my face but i live near a school. I have a feeling that would be an obstacle for you.

Good luck with whatever the fuck it is you do to pass the time.

26.11.2025 06:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

First we should get everyones services to same level i had in Abbotsford, then we should push for free PT.

Has to be in that order otherwise we’ll end up like qld.

26.11.2025 06:11 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Plenty of Melbourne absolutely does comrade, although its hotter for far longer in Brisbane. The difference is we can all agree services in Victoria could be improved.

Those activists in Brisbane have pretty much stopped pushing for improvements now they have 50c shares for themselves .

Bit rich folks who live near the river in Brisbane get to catch the citycat for 50c so winning

26.11.2025 06:00 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Walking 40 minutes in qld heat to get to a train station is a bigger joke in my humble opinion.

26.11.2025 05:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah PT access is qld is the pits.

Morans who go on about 50cent fares have been easily distracted.

26.11.2025 05:54 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

And the thing with SE qld is everyone outside it seems to think PT is great because 50c trains. What they dont know is only just over 33% of Brisbane’s population have easy access to regular and reliable PT.

The GC has has even worse pt access.

Id wager the high costs and lack of infrastructure is playing a critical role.

Sprawl or nothing: medium-density advocates despair as Brisbane swings back to urban expansion Queensland has tightly restricted the construction of townhouses and apartments for decades, and that’s the way it seems set to stay

Just saw a video of a Brisbane based politician talking about Australia’s housing crisis. Whats interesting is despite that person being in parliment for over a decade they have never raised this as an issue 🀨
