In the U.S. it most certainly is the patent monopolies. Eliminate those and the U.S. could then share the drugs with the world for much less than they do now.
These articles are about what the policy should be in the U.S.

*While the outcome of the war could have very large implications for the economy, we were not looking at a recession going into it. But the labor market has definitely deteriorated over the last year and this impact is being felt mostly by disadvantaged groups*

*The job loss reported for February, together with the downward revisions for the prior two months, is unambiguously bad news, and the three-month average is still weak — more signs of a labor market that is not doing well*

Only 27% of Americans support the US war in Iran, which has led to the death of over a thousand Iranian civilians. Congress can—and must—prevent President Trump from doing more damage than he's already done, CEPR's co-director Mark Weisbrot writes in @latimes.com.

Officials also said the US used roughly five years’ worth of Tomahawk missiles in the first three days of the conflict.

How does recent growth compare to recent years?
Economy added just 0.16 million jobs over 12 months to Feb 2026.
Job growth stopped.
Job growth is stalled dead as huge amounts of policy uncertainty from POTUS reduces businesses’ willingness to invest in jobs:
+13K/mo over most-recent 12 months
-1K/mo over most-recent 6 months
+6K/mo over most-recent 3 months
-92K this past month

Today's jobs report was much weaker than expected. Payroll jobs fell 92k in Feb, and revisions to Dec data show a loss of 17k jobs. Average job growth over the last 3 months now under 6k.
Household survey population controls indicate a significant drop in the labor force.

Manufacturing jobs fell again, down 12,000 between January and February 2026. Since January 2025, the manufacturing sector has lost 100,000 jobs. I repeat: The manufacturing sector lost 100k jobs since Trump took office.

Attacks on the federal workforce continue. Federal employment has shrunk an alarming 327,000 jobs since January 2025. The vital services federal employees provide cannot be done without these essential workers. The cost of these losses are only beginning to be felt.
#EconSky #NumbersDay
The overall unemployment ticked up slightly in February, while the unemployment rate rose for Black, Asian, and Hispanic workers. Notably volatile series, but Black unemployment is now back up at 7.7% compared to only 3.7% for white workers.
#EconSky #NumbersDay
Between the decline in employment in February and the downward revision to December, job growth has now effectively slowed to zero. #numbersday
