Some interesting little details in this new study. Particularly fascinating is the suggestion some therapeutic benefits from psilocybin emerge out of the complex interplay between both 5-HT2a and 5-HT1a receptors. It's not just one or the other.

It has often been suggested that psychotherapy works because patients expect it will work before they have even started treatment. But what if treatment expectations are an emergent phenomenon that develops in the course of psychotherapy and contributes to a successful outcome?

I care for children in the hospital on inpatient & consult services.

Most weeks there are at least a few kids admitted with vaccine preventable diseases.

Often in children who can’t get vaccinated themselves.

15 years in pediatrics and I’ve never seen a single one admitted with vaccine injury.

Research posts on Bluesky are more original — and get better engagement Bluesky posts about science garner more likes and reposts than similar ones on X.

Was rummaging through old articles and found this one of Demetre Daskalakis. Apparently, back in 2013, he went to New York City's gay sex clubs and bathhouses and administered meningitis vaccines and helped beat an outbreak.

Can anyone recommend a real academic expert on left-wing extremism, terrorism (like eco-fascism), or left-wing authoritarian movements? Many seem to be partisans posing as researchers, rather than genuine researchers with partisan views.
