Mention β€œthe reservoir” to people in Brookline today and they will probably think of one of two bodies of water: the Chestnut Hill Reservoir or the Brookline Reservoir. But there were once three reservoirs on Fisher Hill. Read about them at bit.ly/bk-reservoirs

I was surprised to learn via the New York Times today that some Jews in the second century BC lived a half-hour train ride outside Rome. But, sure enough, there is ancient photo evidence.

I took this picture around the corner from my house eight years ago today, two weeks into the first Trump presidency. If it seemed prophetic then, it seems even more so now.

Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle. If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

Listening to "Stephen Miller's Return to Power" on the NYT Daily podcast, I was reminded of this 2018 piece written by his uncle. Miller's ancestors came to the US from the same Belarus shtetl that my grandfather and his parents and siblings came from. Shame on him. www.politico.com/magazine/sto...

Not just bad planning, but bad history. The gas station that was on that site was built in 1947. The house that was there before that was converted to a gas station in 1937. The Kennedy family left Brookline in 1927.
