I almost never read comments unless it's a game dev or author talking about those things. No need to read political comments. There are plenty of other things waiting to ruin my day.

But I get it, the vibe at my own place of work has been off for over a year now and I've just decided to be comfy and lazy with how hard it is to vet a new company from the outside and even find one with all the AI gatekeeping in place right now.

Yeah it is a lot tougher right now if you stand around and randomly look for a job. Otoh, I hadn't updated my resume in 8 years and it usually takes me months because it's hard. But I used chatgpt to help me add bullets about slalom to my resume and it didn't suck.

Dear RPG games: I don't give one crap about your multiplayer money extraction features in a game. Give me a banger narrative, mature storytelling and companions I can love. It's not so much to ask is it?

An alternative would be to leave gaming and find a job with a company who pays you what you're worth and respects you. I hear that's hard to come by in your industry.

No mcp server. We were discouraged from experimenting with this when it was newer a few months ago and now the project has a month left. And I'll be on to something entirely different someplace else where I may be able to experiment with mcp now that it's built in.

My agent forgets the user rules every 5 minutes. In there it specifically says to prefer a terse style and to never use the word "absolutely." But it can't remember unless I start every prompt with rules

I think what makes me most angry is after every change, it summarizes what we did and announces that everything is perfect now! And it never is, sometimes it's worse. If I could have anything it would be an AI personality overhaul. I can't cope with the baseline sycophant.

the amount of time I've had to dig up new or added BS to my codebase because the agent "fixes" stuff and I don't notice because we're doing mass revisions...let's just say I've started taking a lot more walks since starting to use it.

As a tech consultant I'm using whatever the client is paying for. And I concur, if you don't have paid tokens or the mcp server, cursor loses the plot a lot. Even with paid tokens I have to remind it that my refactoring work is looking for parity and TO STOP FUCKING "FIXING" SHIT.

Looking forward to the recap. And it's not as bad as you think, the game understands pacing itself after big story beats and will offer chill times. People get mad at the story troughs but sometimes it's good to just hang out a bit after you've been punched in the face, and the game knows that.

A cable tech was out today to check some connectivity issues and he asked "is there a reason why you have a router in addition to your comcast cable modem?" And I was like...the router is mine, the modem isn't. All the config lives on my router, not someone else's cable modem. wtf.
