In older community adults, ~60% of the extra total healthcare costs (THC) associated with cognitive impairment (CI) were due to impaired function & frailty. Studies should test if addressing function & frailty in such adults with CI will lower THC.

Implementing an interdisciplinary #delirium algorithm didn’t change delirium prevalence, but it was assoctd with ⬇️ antipsychotic prescribing & greater use of non-pharm strategies. Continued QI efforts are needed to realize its full potential in acute care.
