And if they believe great replacement theory and welcome authoritarianism, the oligarchs end up exploiting and dominating them inside the gates alongside the purported “enemy.”

An example of great replacement theory. Which suggests Black people, immigrants of color, and Muslims—especially in powerful positions—are here to take the lives and livelihoods of White people. All to convince White people they need authoritarian protection from the “enemy. . .inside the gates.”

Trump calls Iran a “terrorist regime” for “killing innocent people.” Since his regime started bombing Iran, many of the people killed have been innocent people, including girls at a school. By his own logic, Trump is leading a “terrorist regime.”

Accused of being a white nationalist, Trump State Department nominee withdraws As Jeremy Carl’s nomination collapses, a larger question hangs overhead: Why in the world did the president nominate this guy?

Some good news. Jeremy Carl, who says the primary form of racism today is anti-White racism, withdrew his candidacy for a senior role in the State Department. This guy struggled to defend his views on the “erasure of white culture” during his Senate confirmation hearing.

José Antonio Kast, the son of a Nazi lieutenant who fled Germany after WW2, was sworn in today as the 38th president of Chile. For years, Kast ran for president on great replacement theory. At his rallies, some of his supporters wore red hats and demanded that Kast “Make Chile Great Again.”

The “political questions defining our authoritarian age:

Who is the nation for?

Where do the borders of belonging begin and end?”

The regime does not seem to identify as “criminal elements” those enslavers and war lords back then, or those today listed in the Epstein files or launching wars. We all know what groups they have identified as the “criminal elements.”

“The West only achieved the place that it did in human history because it spent previous centuries eradicating the criminal elements within its territories,” Stephen Miller says. “Ruthless means were used to get rid of the people who were raping and murdering.”

Why are the US and Israel framing the ongoing conflict as a religious war? US troops reportedly told the war in Iran is intended to bring about biblical end times, Armageddon.

The war call: If we don’t displace them, they will replace us. As I write in the final part of Chain of Ideas, this old and resurgent great replacement theory has justified wars and genocides again and again and again.

This time, last Sunday, I helped kick off the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by speaking at the United in Blue Rally on the National Mall. It has been eight years since my battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer—the #1 cancer killer among young people.

A note from How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. It explains why in this version of the book, "criminal justice system" has been replaced with "criminal punishment system."
"NOTE ON THE CRIMINAL PUNISHMENT SYSTEM: As abolitionists have pointed out in recent years, this system is hardly a justice system. It is not oriented toward justice, meaning it is not oriented toward accountability, toward healing or eliminating the root causes of harm, whether structural or individual. One reason for this: the widespread racist ideas that Black people are inherently criminals, and Black neighborhoods are inherently dangerous. The "crime" is there because the Black people are there. So there's no way to stop the "crime." There's only the surveillance, policing, and punishment of these "Black criminals" to deter more "crime." This is an orientation toward punishment.
It is no longer accurate to call it the criminal justice system. It is more precise to call it the criminal "punishment" system. And this system must be abolished to bring into being antiracism, safety, and justice for the people."

~1/3 into How to Be an Antiracist. This annotation on replacing "Criminal Justice System" w/"Criminal Punishment System" has me thinking...

Punitive vs Restorative vs Transformative Justice. True Justice is inherently Restorative AND Transformative. The alternative is just Structural Retribution.

The 'great replacement' theory: 'A hateful, conspiratorial phrase' now in 'everyday language' COLUMN. The expression, coined by far-right ideologue Renaud Camus in 2010, is based on a myth Hitler developed. Its drift into everyday language marks a turning point, according to Le Monde columnist...

“Now, as if ‘migratory submersion’ were not enough, the expression ‘great replacement’. . has become so commonplace. . that its true meaning has almost been forgotten,” writes columnist Philippe Bernard.

27 Books Coming in March

One book on this list is Chain of Ideas. 🙏🏾

“Kendi argues that replacement theory animates much of our politics today and traces its evolution from the tirades of a French novelist to halls of power in Viktor Orban’s Hungary and Donald Trump’s America.”

Announcing his war of regime change, Trump said to the Iranian people, “The hour of your freedom is at hand.” Words from a president who has been snatching freedoms from Americans. A freedom taker presenting himself as a freedom giver. How authoritarians commonly present their wars of conquest.
