Today, 25 November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marking the beginning of UN Women’s 16 days of activism, with this year’s theme being “Every 10 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women”.

After a two-and-a-half hour debate, the justice minister ruled out the possibility of new legislation during this parliament

But she did acknowledge that abusive lawsuits “have a chilling effect on journalism and pose a threat to our democracy”

Recommend getting over to BBC Parliament to watch the SLAPPs debate, absolutely crucial that everyone and especially journalists aren't stopped from exposing truth and injustice just because the bad guys have more money.
