This is both the key and the main sticking point. Starmer's government have invested *so much* in the general message that immigration is bad that to be willing to even dilute that message - and mobility and freedom of movement would be seen that way - is probably beyond them.

It’s insane that the world has gone to hell because of the actions of less than 10 dumb psychopathic politicians.

Ten or so people are f**king up things for the entire planet.

That stance will lose them the next Election.

Brexit has not been good for Britain, Reeves says As Britain battles flatlining economic growth and ongoing fears over the cost of living, Ms Reeves argued that closer ties with the EU is the ‘biggest prize’ economically

Despite the rhetoric, Labour are still insisting that the Brexit "ship has sailed".

Reeves tells the truth about Brexit – and the howls begin Rachel Reeves says Brexit harmed Britain’s economy. The resulting outrage shows how fragile the Brexit story has become

Brexiters fury is "entirely understandable. For years they argued that time would prove them right. Instead time appears to be proving something else".

News story from the Guardian: Reform UK government would replace top civil servants with those ‘more like[ly] to implement party’s priorities’

Let us hope that they will never get the chance. It the UK electorate is stupid enough to vote in a Reform government, we are lost.

Andrew Hesselden: Unlocking the Brexit Impasse with Freedom of Movement YouTube video by Andrew Hesselden

European Freedom of Movement was one of the most powerful rights British Citizens ever had.

It meant you didn’t need permission to live, work, study or build a life anywhere across Europe.

That freedom disappeared after Brexit.

I spoke about why restoring it matters.

‘It beggars belief’: MoD sources warn Palantir’s role at heart of government is a threat to UK’s security Experts say that claims UK data remains under government ownership miss the point that the company has the capability to build its own detailed picture of the British population, and even infer state ...

"Palantir, the US AI surveillance and security firm with hundreds of millions of pounds in UK government contracts, poses 'a national security threat to the UK', according to two anonymous high-level sources working with the Ministry of Defence."

Well we're seeing what happens when governments only hire yes people from the US. No surprise Reform and Farage wouldn't want to be challenged on anything. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Badenoch is beyond arrogant, out the other side and into some special zone all of her own. Completely blind to how deeply ridiculous she really is.

We are a nation of 349M, yet one man decided to launch our nation into a reckless, illegal war without congressional authorization or counsel or the support of the American people. He didn’t think he had any duty to sell it or serve the people’s interests. This is why despotic rule is so dangerous.

Cameron announcing his decision to step down after the Brexit referendum.
He sacrificed our welfare, future, rights and freedoms to save his party and position.
He is a traitor and I hold him in the utmost contempt.

Somehow the U.K. Gov thinks Palantir software is OK to use in Defence, police and the NHS.

Since WW2 the US has proceeded to fight increasingly stupid wars that are of no benefit and are impossible to win.

But the war in Iran stands out as the stupidest, started for no reason right on top of the world's most important trade route with zero plan to win.

Moronic.

People who choose to live abroad for years in tax havens and then come back here, should be made to pay the NHS surcharge like other immigrants are.

Trump has stabbed Zelensky and Ukraine in the back yet again – and saved Putin from bankruptcy. The madman cannot be trusted. So Europe must give Ukraine the weapons it needs to end this war ASAP.

The UK will make the worst foreign policy mistake since the Iraq war if we get sucked in by the USA into providing military convoy escorts through the strait of Hormuz.

And if things turn really wrong there, it could be our worst foreign policy mistake of all time.

If it wasn’t such a dire situation, Trump is laughable. When he opens his mouth it’s outright bullshit. At this point the world assumes (correctly) everything he says is a lie.

U.S. Air Force B-1 And B-52 Bombers Now Striking Iran From The UK The U.S. Air Force now operates three distinct bomber aircraft, all of which can trace their development back to the Cold War.

US bombers loading up on UK airstrips before raining down bombs on Iran.

Parliament wasn't consulted - and polling shows huge numbers oppose it.

When do MPs get a say over our involvement in this war?

“Freedom of Movement didn’t just give people rights.

It gave them the freedom to say yes.”

Yes to a job.
Yes to a relationship.
Yes to a life somewhere else in Europe.

That freedom shaped millions of lives.

Imagine a child decades from now, standing in a barren field, looking at a history book. They will see photos of giants—trees that stood before empires rose—and they will ask us: "You knew they were the lungs of the planet. You knew they were ancient. Why did you let them die?"

Imagine a world where Americans were smarter and didn’t applaud when reactionary idiot Ronald Reagan made a show out of removing the solar panels Jimmy Carter had installed on the White House. We wouldn’t now have to worry about affording to fill gas tanks next month.
