Two very bundled up women holding candles in the dark.

About 50 of us gathered on the schoolyard corner in my St. Paul neighborhood. 🕯️💔

THE LIVING AND THE DEAD | Kirkus Reviews The related murders of two teenagers following a pre-Christmas, pre-millennium party shakes up a southwestern Swedish town where the aftershocks are still felt 20 years later.

Tuesday was pub day for The Living and the Dead, the third installment in Christoffer Carlsson's Halland Suite. And it got a starred review from Kirkus! I very much enjoyed translating this one. www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews...

An orange and blue knitted hat in progress sits on my lap as I ride the bus.

It's transit to work day in Mpls-St Paul! Even though I'm a freelance translator and work from home, I use transit to get to libraries to do research. I love it because I can read on the bus and train, or knit, or sometimes even edit a draft. Today, the 87 to the Green Line to get to U of M.

Biked to the state fair for the first time today, and it was great! Parking in the corral was easy. And an A+ sunset on the way home. #mnstatefair #bikesky

"Graphic with 'Anthropic' logo on left, circuit-like design. Right text reads: 'Authors: You May Be Part of This Class Action Lawsuit. Anthropic AI Lawsuit Explained.' Modern, tech-themed design."

A federal court ruled that ANTHROPIC illegally copied MILLIONS of books to train its AI.

All authors and publishers whose books were downloaded by Anthropic from pirate websites are subject to receiving compensation. This could involve your work.

It's our anniversary! So @soundslikelara.bsky.social and I are tooling around St. Paul on @metrotransitmn.bsky.social and doing fun stuff. First up, two different donut stops on the 63.

One thing I love about taking the bus around town is the sense of community and seeing tiny acts of kindness. Today my stop was full of slushy snow and a man who was boarding stomped down a little spot for me to step onto, ready to give me a hand. #publictransit

A white and orange cat poses behind a copy of Punished by Ann-Helén Laestadius. The book cover shows a Sámi gákti or tunic depicted as a paper doll outfit with tabs to fold.

Yesterday was pub day for Punished by Ann-Helén Laestadius. Despite the challenging subject matter--Sámi residential schools in Sweden and the long-lasting trauma of them--what a joy it was to translate this novel. Bean says go get it from the library or your local indie bookstore. #booksky
