Legit I would love this game if it wasn't for the combat or the bloat. Sure, there's narrative/character problems, but I could've looked past them.

So I got past the Date in FF7 Rebirth and jeez, at this point I'm so tired of the game. Playing on easy, so the difficulty isn't the thing this time round: it's the sheer volume of stuff. I don't think I've ever played a game so padded and bloated with side-stuff, and I feel like I'm full.

Just watching the Escapist drawing the katana through their stomach at a snail's pace has been infuriating. I'm surprised their subscriber base didn't drop more rapidly.

Got to the part in FF7 Rebirth where they make a black man claim to have 'sold them down the river'.

So, I almost did a similar thing when writing the first draft of my novel. Please look up what 'sold down the river' even means.

Years of forcing cringe 'humour' and intrusive popups trying to get people to fork out more money for things they never needed - when they *just* want to socialise with friends - now this. Databreach wasn't enough?

Just upsets me bc I really, truly want to like these games, but inbetween all the chaff, inbetween all the Chudley spam, the constant verbal diarrhea, the crap combat, I feel like that won't be possible.

Y'know, I'm thinking I'd have hated FF7 Remake (and what little I've played of Rebirth) much less if they'd given the dodge some fucking i-frames. Also, perfect guard is fine in theory, but not when all your attacks have huge wind ups and cool-offs, while the enemy can just do whatever they please.

Speaking of, I liked Rebirth at first, but I feel that same awfulness creeping back into it. I now realise that it isn't the combat's problem, it's the encounter designs of bosses. Some of them are as inorganic as Resident Evil 6, and that's a pretty low goddamn bar to tunnel down to.

Why the fuck did they make Fort Condor Barret white???

I just alt + f4'd FF7 remake at the Rufus fight. It highlights absolutely everything I despise about the game's dogshit combat system. I'm so fucking terribly angry. I hate it. The fucking gameplay turned what was an intriguing, beautiful, indulgent bit of fanservice into a rage-inducing slap.

That's not true entirely. Fluency with language has always resulted in shortening of words, dialects, breaking grammar etc to provide relaxed conversation. We see it in most languages, even Japanese (usually seen as a very strict language) and low-effort internet chats.

It's like that in every language. The more native you are, the more you know how to break the rules.
