The post at the bottom of my stairs, I've chemically and mechanically stripped most of the horrible white paint off and then sanded the top which has come out nice and clean.

Ok barring some of the more inaccessible (and therefore less visible) parts this might work.

Damn. This is amazing. ยฃ325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Occasionally the stupid things explode when you try to connect them damaging the hinge and then it has to be repaired, and I have to chase down the section that fell and grind it up, and sometimes during all of this I fall to my death because the engineer has no fine motor control in low gravity.

A view looking up along a conveyor section at the hinge it's connecting into. The Earth hangs large in the sky

A view down along the inclinator with the conveyor sections hanging from it. It's green, they're golden, the moon in the background is grey and cratered with its curve really obvious

A view of the factory at the base of the inclinator, it's a stack of pistons that push a projector mounted on wheels along a track through a little gantry with welders on it. A small ship is docked to the gantry and a big ugly industrial ship is landed on a platform nearby.

There's a factory specificly for these things, and a ship specificly for picking them up and attaching them (that handles like an absolute pig). Once they're all installed I'll use the hinges to swing them up and attach the other ends automatically.

I definitely meant to say "in Space Engineers" ...

Anyway the stupid thing is 2800ish meters tall and I'm up to 1900ish meters with the bollocks task of attaching sections of conveyor to hinges (because it's at a 45 degree angle and I was stupid and didn't just hinge the entire structure).

Aside from the mod I've been building I've also been making a small scale space inclinator (smol because on the moon) in a single player game with jet pack nerfed to hecc and let me tell you I have become very sick of said project but I'm in too deep and I wanna get it done.

Let me tell you what I told Kao when he said he didn't understand how I could go touring Europe by myself.

If I waited for someone to go with I'd never go.

In a similar position. I basicly just didn't take time off this year due to not having the money for events or travel. I've got this week and next week off to work on the house and still have something like 15 left.

You missed the point, this is more about how the map view structures how you think about the space rather than the utility of the app.

Same thing for any city, take a look at London, you'll see all roads and no rail corridors. A map is a tool for navigating and how it's laid out, what it shows, influences how you think about your journey. When all the map shows is the roads it's hard to imagine the route in other ways.

06.10.2025 09:24 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Google maps (probably the most popular mapping service) is extremely car-centric. If you look at a zoomed out view of any European country what you'll see is its cities and its motorway network, not its intercity rail links. Take the car, this is how we get around.

Watching a video about NYC's Broadway reminded me about some thoughts I'd had about how maps shape how we think about places. Google maps diminishing and even removing Broadway in relation to its utility for cars regardless of how *people* might relate to it.

There are far, far too many people out there who don't understand this. Like sex is supposed to be fun and uplifting and affirming, you're both meant to feel great after. That's what I want out of sex, for everyone involved to have a good time.

05.10.2025 20:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 19    ๐Ÿ” 4    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

sex isn't about cumming, it's about making eachother feel good. Just because it doesn't end with an ejaculation doesn't mean that the sex wasn't good.
