We Smash Bros now.
10.12.2025 06:46 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A purplish pink graphic showcasing the WIP Night details. There's 3 images of the 3 games' key art: Anticitizen Red, Your Holy & Virtuous Heretic and Insignia. Beneath them is a drawing of a horse, kangaroo, cockatoo and ibis, all in states of being half rendered realistically, alongside goofy "poorly drawn" features. In the middle are WIP Nights' details: Noble Steed Games, WIP Night!, 12th December, Friday, 5:30pm-8:30pm, ACE Parramatta. At the bottom are sponsor details: Screen NSW, ACE and Noble Steed Games' logos.
Introducing... even more upcoming games that will be showcasing at WIP Night! We'll have microtalks, 10 Sydney-made games for playtesting, and free food and drinks!

I don't use the pixel perfect cameras at all and the game is smooth.
06.12.2025 21:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You generally want the camera updating last. If you have damping, that'll help, but ultimately any movement that's subtler than like 1 pixel every 2-3 frames is going to look choppy as the camera jumps between the integer pixel counts at inconsistent frame intervals.
06.12.2025 10:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Even when set up correctly, the snapping created by pixel perfect cameras can be jarring when the camera is doing anything other than sitting still or moving quickly along a cardinal axis. I just place my assets on the grid and snap my characters on pixel perfect positions when they stop moving.
06.12.2025 05:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't have any resources on it, but I do have a few opinions. Are you doing any parallaxing or any camera movement at all?
06.12.2025 02:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0MIGW was amazing! I get so much energy meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends that by the end of it I'm itching to fly home and get back to work!

31.07.2025 02:52 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0To everyone who introduced themselves to me this week at #GDC, I'm so grateful to you. It was a surreal honour and absurd privilege to feel like I was at home in a place I've never been, among friends I've never met.
Seriously, thank you all so much.

I'm taking your efforts in good faith but I have to say, I think Bluesky is a poor platform to share such a message. I really think that most readers would see the graphs and these posts and come away more confused.
22.01.2025 09:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In your own graphic, the only image that has a tick against "pixel perfect" is functionally identical to what I would describe as pixel perfect, so by your own standard we're just talking about dolphins.
If there are under-the-hood differences, your graphic isn't sufficient to explain them.
You can always contribute to the conversation in a more permanent format and in more depth. That way your definition doesn't have to die.
22.01.2025 09:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Reading your other post, I wonder if you might be confused about the content of my video.
Our definitions are the same for pixel perfect, as far as I can tell, and as far as I communicated in the video.
I trust your voice in this topic but when it comes to pixel art games in off-the-shelf engines like Godot and Unity, this is how the terminology is used. The Unity engine itself has a component called "pixel perfect camera" that scales and snaps content to a low res texture.
22.01.2025 08:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0My game isn't pixel perfect, and your favourites probably aren't either. Here's why: youtu.be/-hSRLmk3nLo
