Got woken up by mom to do take out the garbage I forgot to do fully last night this morning at around nearly 8ish, pulled out my phone to go on ANN to see new anime news and this is the first thing I see in the morning…fucking hell man.

Still 50 continuous years of broadcast for a single series is still impressive.

While I may not agree/like every Sentai out there. I’m still very happy the series exists and has helped people in all walks of life in one way or the other.

But the series does deserve a break for sure.

When Kamen Rider took a break and returned it gave us Kamen Rider Kuuga. And that show was amazing!
So It’s definitely time for Super Sentai to do the same.

Don't fully believe everything you hear... This is misleading.
We've known for a while about the #SuperSentai Series ending with Gozyuger, which is true, but that's because they're re-branding with a new franchise name.
This news is correct, but as a technicality due to the re-branding.

this is obviously sad but also managing fifty years with no breaks on a show where every episode has people backflipping off buildings is insane work and it's incredible that they managed the final zenkai-gozyu run when the whole thing was clearly bleeding out

Before you start doom posting or whatever, the next Sentai has literally already been talked about being in production, they just mean a rebrand is gonna happen

If true, on one hand, this sucks a lot because I love Sentai and I watch it every week even when it's mid.

So the gist is that Super Sentai *isn't* ending, just undergoing a huge rebrand after Gozuyger. But like - that's what Sentai's been doing since 1975, right? And has been doing so in overdrive since Power Rangers ended?

It's my understanding that Super Sentai has never been regarded, officially, as a long-running single TV series - it's a meta-series of standalone productions that are only ever greenlit on a yearly basis. So maybe this news isn't as dramatic as it sounds.

If you consider how we shifted from JAKQ to Battle Fever, then this won't even be the first franchise-wide rebrand that SS has experienced.

Anyway, now that Toei's popping a pin in Super Sentai's current form, maybe I can finally sit down and watch Dekaranger.

We can take it for granted but the other sentai franchises like Ultraman and Kamen Rider have taken sabbaticals too. Godzilla and Gamera famously had their long droughts

Super Sentai is too lucrative to go away completely IMO, but yeah, a 45 year streak of annual TV sentai ends in 2026. Damn

Super Sentai isn’t ending. The producers have stated for the longest time that they wanted to do a rebrand and this is probably it.

Plus with that rebrand it’ll allow them to get past Hasbro’s BS and air the show internationally.

Not sure if it's truly the end as it might either take a brief hiatus like Kamen Rider did in the 90s or undergo a name change (rebranding) and maybe air on YouTube like what the current Kamen Rider series is doing rn

We still don't have an official announcement from Toei themselves after all....
