in the last iteration, i basically did the same thing, without maintaining the momentum of my rigidbodies, so i was on the right track.
moral of the story is, never give up!
I restarted my game project from scratch around 8 months ago.
I went back to the old iteration yesterday, and not only was it better than i remembered it being,
But i was also very close to a massive physics engine breakthrough that i had recently.
It had to do with a feature thats not documented

added a fire upgrade that created my new favorite playstyle.
just walk around with high magic damage gear and the enemies die around you ๐
