I tried to post on Wordpress, but alas. Anyway, I just wanted to say I found this essaylet delightful. My father loved Nero Wolfe, and I still have a (very) few of those old paperbacks. I guess I have no choice but to crack one open. And then, possibly, keep going. Thanks for this!
I'm all in. How do we do this? Independence from the federal government! Yeah! That's what they want, isn't it?
The Southeast, the Northeast, Upper Lower Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Idaho-Montana-Wyoming, Utah-Colorado-Nevada, the Southwest... Hawaii, Alaska, California, and Texas— certainly their own countries.
I think we should bust this country up. What do you think?
On my deck now. Beautiful surprises, surprising beauty. roostmusings.blogspot.com
Okay, I exaggerate: only twice as much. Not even! What a deal!
Only the MAGAest of the MAGAs would rather spend three times as much on a showerhead just because it's Made in the USA. Hey, even they might not want to...
When he bans degenerate art, we’ll know exactly where we are.
I spoke too soon…
He’s clearly staying up late thinking, What can I go after *next*?
Three little words I learned this week (well, one of them I already knew), which remind me how ridiculously fraught human relations are: primogeniture, gavelkind, and tanistry. And then there's (agnatic) ultimogeniture. And fideicommissum. Inheritance. I'm glad it's easier now. Here.
Not too long ago, this was a golf course. #springtimebeauty

How the heck do politics enter in to a medical emergency in the first place?
The protest in Chicago is massive!
Over 50,000 protesters have shown up for the May Day march and International Workers' Day.

3/ My latest entries include some book reports (a thing I do, left over from my MFA days), ladybugs, glass art, Gilbert & Sullivan (because we also need silly), and ancient Nigerian art. Plus hundreds more (there are 1,729 posts in all, since 2009/15). Check it out! roostmusings.blogspot.com.
2/ In any case, I've decided to start another daily practice, because (a) the discipline is salutary, (b) as is the habit of looking for (and telling about) beauty in the world, and (c) we all need beauty!
1/ I usually post links to my blog (which is on blogger, and so lacks the "Subscribe" feature, but I'm too lazy to switch to Wordpress) on Facebook, but I'm so sick of FB. So... I will post the link here from now on. For what it's worth. I don't think anybody sees me here...
I posted a shot for IP2. It shows up in my feed. Should I post it here too?
The instructions:
1) Something you'd take with you when you leave the house
2) A stone (or a fossil)
3) Shot in a bathroom (any bathroom)

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.
Seriously.
“People” didn’t understand much of anything when they voted Trump in for a second term. I wonder what they’ll understand on the far side of this catastrophe…
2/ And the shredding of the protections of our natural world also matters, just as much.
On Tuesday three of us went to the redwoods near Santa Cruz to do some geocaching. This cache was called Ladybug Bridge. Aptly, at this time of year. We found 31 caches over a 10-mile hike. Days out in nature help me remember what matters.
"History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for."
What’s the x axis?
Yes, that’s what Zelensky has wanted for 3 years - a nuclear holocaust and world extinction. Our Director of National Intelligence. Who will never say anything about where Putin fits into all this. Congrats, America.
