It's sad to watch the tables turn rather than the movement progress.
The right rallied against healthy lunches at school. The left couldn't understand how you would eat at McDonald's.
The early 2000s organic movement felt very similar to this one, but with the parties flipped. The progressive thing to do was cut HFCS out of soda. The conservative thing was the fight for your right to Oreo.
Loved this NYT story from @kimseverson.bsky.social about how we're already seeing MAHA in grocery stores: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/14/d...
Absolutely eating up this story from @nytimes.com about what's happening with mid-career creatives whose industries collapsed under them.
Our latest mushroom block haul was a doozy.
We get these through a donation-based mushroom block distribution network that everyone in Austin should know about: www.centraltexasmycology.org/mushroom-blo...
We reported on this a few days ago, but I want to point out this headline because this is where we are at.

At a SXSW event today, I overheard a couple ask, "Is this a historic building?"
Having read the sign just a few minutes earlier (of course), I said, "It was built in 1898, and they renovated it starting in the early 1980s."
Person I met right next to me: "Do you work here?"
Someone came up to me a few minutes later and said, "I 'liked' your comment."
(he drew the heart next to the comment. π₯Ή)
It's not too hard to guess which answer is mine. π΅
Let me bring Dubai's Museum of the Future at SXSW to you. What's your answer to this question: "How might I take action to create a future I want to participate in?"
Yay, so good to see you here RL!
I'm looking forward to remembering what I loved about it then and finding some of that joy here.
OK, first post on bsky has to be the fail whale, which is a nice reminder of the beautiful community we'd built on The Other Site back in the day.
