That being said, @arabidtoucan.bsky.social and I are planning out future Let's Talk About Wargames episodes and we'd like to bring more guests on, so if you are in the wargaming sphere and have a topic you'd like to discuss, please reach out to us at letstalkaboutwargames@gmail.com
I was actually looking through Tenka Fubu a couple months ago. Might need to grab myself a couple sets of Baccus now.
Lovely! Which figures and rules? I'm always down to add another project onto my pile of wishful thinking.
Anyone playing multiple scales of the same conflicts? Funny to think I have three scales of Napoleonics on the go, 28mm, 13.5mm(epic), and 8mm(risk), but also have 28mm and 15mm WWII. That's just for historicals. Does one scale get more playtime than the other in your experiences?
Worthington's 1944 Battle of the Bulge! We played hidden objectives, and it was a great game. I as the Germans had to get a Panzer Division off the table, and was one turn out from getting it! Tense, fun, and only about 2 hours.
Always happy to talk good games! In fact, I've got a buddy coming by tonight for gaming and this is suddenly what is going to be pulled off the shelf! Seems as good a time as any to revisit it.
This is entirely historical wargames at the moment. Personally I want to play almost all of these so I think I'll be using it for some time.
Put together a fun little project a while ago I thought I'd share: Wargaming with Risk figures!
Using a $5 beat up thrift shop version of Risk, I painted up the minis for use with One Hour Wargames at first.
Anyone familiar with other systems these would work well with?
Thanks!
I'd check with local gaming shops first to see if they can source them, but you can buy direct from Worthington www.worthingtonpublishing.com/collection/b... and Revolution games: stores.revolutiongames.us/the-deadly-w...
Beautiful stuff. I've yet to get the hang of putting terrain together. I'm most proud of my little village here, but even that was a disaster to put together! Do you work from templates?
I am a big fan of Worthington's '1944 Battle of the Bulge'. It's quick playing, has interesting objectives, and is a beautiful package. I also enjoyed 'The Deadly Woods' from Ted Racier. Beefy game, but it allows you to play the attack and counter attack in one game. Highly recommend both.
I never really meshed with online versions of boardgames, but decided to give rally-the-troops.com a try with @smoothestjazz.bsky.social. It's a really tight system and I'm not sending pieces flying everywhere like Tabletop Simulator. I recommend it. Wargames only though at this point.
