I seem to organise my books into a queue. I need to finish one before I can detach enough to focus on another. If I had the skill to two I expect it would require me to have a lot more time as well πŸ˜†

Congrats on that collection of well done there though!

I need a writing sabbatical.

Wrote 9k words of my current book, cleared a bit of headspace, and in pours all of the new ideas for a story I devised last year.

I can’t write two things at once.

An old Gormenghast copy would be delightful!

Two of my books. The Dead and the Rotten on the left, in purple and black. The Vile Realm on the right in green and black. Both books have a colour matched strip of paper intended top, intended to be a bookmark. They have a smaller version of the cover design as interpreted by my daughter.

Perhaps I’ll get there one day. In the mean time, it seems my daughter is aiming to build my community - here are some bookmarks she made. Says we should get one per copy made!

…but it has helped me understand a little more about myself through it all, which was the entire point.

I can’t concentrate on more than one thing at once. And when I am on one thing, I am ON one thing. If I fully delved into a writing community I’d likely have no writing.

Just generally observing how continually poor I am at keeping up with social media. As a writer I know I need to engage with my audience, no matter the size of it.

Towards the end of last year I got to end of a process that confirmed I’m AuDHD. A revelation to nobody really, much less myself…

From my kdp bookshelf page the promote and advertise button (if you’re seeing that) that is to the right of each book has two options, one of which is a free promotion. Can do that for five free days per quarter.

I pondered the relevance of a face like this in a kids playground today, as my daughter gave attention to every element bar this Gollum-esque statue.

Oddly excited to have had Ingstadt pen a poem that forms a montage between the two halves of The Unspeakable Awaits.

The end of this story is dark and a left-field ditty didn’t really fit. So β€œThe Tale Retold” is a halfway summary!

Not in Campbeltown as planned, but at home with an excellent bottle, veggie haggis, and IT Chapter 2 πŸ€£πŸ’€

Over the course of the last week I managed 10k words to The Unspeakable Awaits. Idea was to clear my head.

No.

Now all of the questions the new sections generated are vying for attention!

Today was to be the rescheduled Springbank distillery visit, which was previously cancelled because of Storm Bert. Storms are at it again, Γ‰owyn has put paid to the journey.

The visit was a November post hospital trauma treat 😭

This piece ( Cover art for Library stories for @marklawrenceauthor.bsky.social ) was another pivotal piece for me. I was determined to do something better than my usual and I was able to. All following work had a new standard. Giddy time.

A home-grown Purple Hairstreak. Rescued as an egg from a fallen oak in February last year, and nurtured (along with five others) to adulthood. Ended up with three male and three female.

This is one of the females. A stunning insect!

Drink tonight, till morning light.
You've soaked your head, you'll find your bed.
Cheaper here, cheaper there, cheaper just atop that stair.

Eat your meat, find your feet. Another street to meet your sweet.
Was she yours or are they whores?
You want some more? Then close that door.

That bloody poet has been at it again!

There were two kings, they had three rings.
A city of stone, a city grown.
A place for fun, you’re never done.

Streets and cobbles, inns and hovels.
Hawkers and wares, the crier blares.
Iron and silver, all to pilfer.

Rumiruna, room to lose ya.
