Project seeks to develop retinal screening for Alzheimerβs
OHSU biomedical engineer and imaging scientist awarded federal funding for high-risk, high-reward project.
The award enables scientists to develop an eye drop that detects the fluorescent signal of a protein associated with Alzheimerβs disease.
When combined with a noninvasive scanner, the project could result in a low-cost, widely accessible screening tool to detect the earliest stages of the disease.
