Glad it's helpful! We did Edexcel this year but we're now switching to AQA. I believe the content is almost identical so the resource library works for any board.

Below is an excellent outline of why Pearson shouldn't be allowed to get themselves out the A-Level mess they've created. Ofqual must intervene.

Yesterday I spent a fascinating morning talking maths with a group of GPs. All professions require some level of numeracy, but doctors face particular challenges when communicating mathematical ideas.
I've written up a short blog: robeastaway.com/blog/gp-maths
Itβs high time I engaged properly with the ratio table method and updated my lessons to fall in line.
Would be grateful for recommendations/reminders of anyone using them well already/resources I can refer to as a starting point. @mathsjem.bsky.social @studymaths.bsky.social @catrionaagg.bsky.social

Wonderful afternoon yesterday celebrating a colleagueβs 50th and saying goodbye to a member of the maths department who is leaving us to teach overseas. Very emotional, but a great time had by all. I love this lot - best maths department ever. Hello summer holidays! βοΈπΆοΈπ

I have the luxury of a 3mx6m spare room - unheard of! What would people do with it/use it for? Already have an office and enough classrooms.
14.07.2025 19:17 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Yes, weβve always done that. But theyβve practised all the past papers and now they practised all the mock papers too. So whatever we use theyβve seen it before.

09.07.2025 23:56 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0So approx 7/8 years ago as Head of Maths, we used to have access to our Year 7 cohorts KS2 QLA analysis. Is this still a thing? (now HOD again) If so how can I access our our new Y7 results in September? TIA and sorry if this is a stupid question.

Interesting! Does it do all the stuff that the CG100 does?
08.07.2025 18:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Weird, Iβm tagged in that but wasnβt notified. I genuinely donβt get this kind of stuff in my feed or notifications at all. Itβs like Iβve got some kind of filter that stops me seeing it. I just get maths chat and a few ads. Strange.

06.07.2025 07:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow. When you realise how much money Casio makes out of this, itβs no surprise they sponsor a free bar for teachers at the MEI Conference! Convince one college to go graphical and they get over twenty grand of annual sales! π°
06.07.2025 06:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is what makes me sad. In other subjects money buys cultural capital - for example a wealthier child does well in English because they had more books growing up, have been to the theatre etc. I just want maths to be a level playing field for all, regardless of income.
06.07.2025 06:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Our finance guy hasnβt done this kind of thing before so the logistics and workload would be with me initially. Iβd just need to get it up and running. And work out the best way of doing it. My question is whether to make them compulsory. If not, teaching must be tricky with a mix of calculators.
06.07.2025 06:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My Twitter never went horrible (other than the change of ownership) - I muted the right words, my DMs were closed and I only followed maths teachers. I think it will take a good five years before Bluesky has the same level of maths teacher engagement that Twitter had in its heyday (2015 to 2020).
06.07.2025 06:51 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you. Good idea. So much money involved initially though! We have 75 students in each year group so Iβd be asking my headteacher for about six grand upfront! Eek.
I would love to see some research on whether it really does make a significant difference.
Good idea - thank you. I need to look into the various different models that schools use. Iβve always avoided the graphical calculator route because Iβm upset about the principle of spending money for better grades, but Iβm starting to think itβs unavoidable. I will investigate.
05.07.2025 14:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Questions using recurring decimals, where all the answers are fractions with the numerator one less than the denominator.
A #MathsToday catch-up post: here are some of the things Iβve done this week.
Y10 learned about recurring decimals, so I used this Don Steward task (reformatted to remove fractional indices). I didnβt realise how nice the answers would be! donsteward.blogspot.com/2017/02/recu...
I spent a decade working really hard to help build a huge community on Twitter where teachers could easily ask for help. This community is so tiny in comparison to what we once had. People I speak to at conferences arenβt even aware itβs here. I know weβll get there. Patience (from me) needed!
05.07.2025 13:52 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, good point. I get that. I suppose Iβm the same in other forums that arenβt related to maths education. I read but never contribute. But still find them very helpful.

05.07.2025 13:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow - thatβs very cool. You must do some impressive stuff to be runner up in that category! I was so impressed by all the amazing things I was hearing about what other schools do.
05.07.2025 12:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I was a nervous KS3 teacher with a quick resource query I might not think itβs the place for me. It will take time. Weβll get there. Nothing need to change, it will just take time. 2/2
05.07.2025 11:27 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Not a criticism of anyone, just the nature of a new platform. My feed is a small group of super smart regulars mainly chatting about A Level, which is great to see & thereβs absolutely nothing wrong with it. 1/2
