Jetzt nur mal hoffen dass Geert Wilders nicht PM wird in Oktober.

Dann ist es schluss.

This is where I extol the virtues of a constitutional monarchy like the Netherlands or Denmark.

Americans are weird. Ryan Gosling is no equal to Mads Mikkelsen.

I think we have it the wrong way 'round.

Earlier today, Putin threatened Europe with nukes (see article), and to me it looks like Trump used Medvedev as a way of signalling he's not happy with this rather than a direct criticism of the Russian leader.

I love these @prune602.bsky.social threads. It's so hard to get a handle on what's actually happening in Russia that her insights into the workings of the market there are incredibly invaluable.

Giver her a follow if you can.

11-panel comic. (1) [Person approaches another person with short hair who is flying a kite with a large spool at her feet.] PERSON 1: Ooh, flying a kite? PERSON 2: Yeah. I found this big spool of fishing line in a closet. (2) [The kite is now flying far away.] (3) [Kite is even farther away.] PERSON 1: Are we allowed to fly a kite this high? Should we Google whether there are rules? PERSON 2: Eh, it’s probably fine. (4) [Kite is now off-panel.] PERSON 2: The string is really starting to sag. PERSON 1 [touching lower curve of line]: Maybe we could attach another kite? I’ll go get one. (5) [Another kite now attaches above the line, bringing the curve higher in the air.] PERSON 1: It worked! PERSON 2: Nice! (6) [Two empty spools at Person 2’s feet in addition to one in use. The kite line has a knot in it.] PERSON 1: I bought another package of string. PERSON 2: Oh good, these spools are almost empty. I think we’re in the jet stream. (7) PERSON 1: How many kites are on there now? PERSON 2: I’ve lost count. (8) [long distance shot of people with all the empty spools and beginning of the kite line] (9) [large panel showing many attached kites coming back around] PERSON 1: Uhh… (10) PERSON 1: ...Did it blow in a circle? PERSON 2: I don’t know. Lemme look up a map of where the jet stream goes. PERSON 1: Hey, do you hear sirens? (11) [Headline] *Breaking* Kite Incident Duo Speaks. Anyway, if you're interested in joining our EU OSINT server, here's a link:

discord.com/servers/foru...

It's like a chill coffee shop, according to Discord.

29.07.2025 00:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

In our EU geopolitical news server we have divided it into 4 broad sections: The information channels (rules, etc), EU topics such as culture and economics and per global region (e.g. asia, europe, etc) and lastly shitposting.

This concentrates serious discussions in places where it belongs.

29.07.2025 00:25 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Channel management is also very important. Having topical discussions in an open environment often turns into a shouting match.

If you're not familar with Discord, every server you join has channels for discussion of different topics.

Each channel has to be on-topic and relevant.

I've been a mod on the Forum Gotterfunken Discord server since 2018 and in my 7+ years of experience I've found that effective management of topics can make the difference between a Discord server in which vitriol and crudeness thrive and a place people go for genuine information exchange.

29.07.2025 00:20 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Our EU OSINT discord is like that too. Professors and random people, who have really interesting discussions on EU (geo)politics and law.

It creates an environment where the topics become fluid, but an honest exchange of information is possible between people with very varied backgrounds.

Thank you 😊

When I took over moderation of the community in 2018, we had just over 1000 users.

It feels like vindication to have the subreddit grow this large.

Thing is, we EU citizens do pay for it. Less business with the US means less employment. Which means taxes go down.

It's abject surrender by the EU.

27.07.2025 17:53 β€” πŸ‘ 17    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 8    πŸ“Œ 0

The terms aren't so much of a deal, but more of a surrender.

Steel and Aluminum tariffs will remain at 50%. 15% tariffs on EU businesses and we're paying 1.3 trillion extra for their energy and weapons.
