Energy security is one of the many reasons I'm in favour of New Zealanders going EV where it is practical to do so.
The supply of this type of fuel isn't so vulnerable to bellicosity between nations on the other side of the world.
Local renewables make sense.

US tariffs will reduce imports to the US, but countries receiving relatively lower tariffs may find themselves with a bigger slice of a shrinking pie, comparable to pre-tariff times, while also enjoying cheaper imports from countries affected by higher tariffs which need to sell...stuff.
