Scientific methods come with inaccuracies, medical blood tests included - doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use them as indicators of health alongside other measures e.g. for diabetes, coeliac disease, cancer screening etc, until something better comes along.

Misreporting (over and under) has been widely recognised as a problem in nutrition science for decades. Unfortunately alternatives (DLW, biomarkers) are expensive and come with other issues. Self-reported data can be valuable (dietary patterns) & used alongside other much needed validated methods.
