I'm in Manchester for the Conservative conference, where some of the views on show are likely to be fairly extreme. As one example, these quotes from a Kemi Badenoch interview in the Telegraph are the sorts of things which not very long ago would have only *ever* been said by the racist far right.

For the UK, Truss’s ‘mini budget’ felt like the apotheosis of this phenomenon. But three years later, things are actually worse. From the Mail to the Telegraph to Farage, the people who cheered & championed it are all measurably madder.

Someone in the government needs to take a 'common sense' pill and see the Brits for what they are: backers of good causes (contra the #Gaza #Genocide) and stubborn mules who will back 'lost' causes. Liberal values - vs authoritarian - are the clue!

Surely the EU members guidelines need to change to avoid one state vetoing all of the rest?
