The style is weirdly hyper-emotional, operatic (turmoils of despair etc) but as someone who knows little about the period (&loves an opera) it’s all the more fascinating. Curious scenes of parlour games where lights are turned off and harem ladies beat each other, getting the frustrations out
I’ve been obsessed with this princess of Persia for the last week. Found her online as a meme (last pic) and then did some googling and it turns out she’s the author of an only memoir of the early c20 Persian harem and something of a free thinker / feminist. (…)
