Anyone who's into that will also understand how and why bands like Caravan, Soft Machine and Gong evolved. And then how the French scene started to produce it's own jazz with Sclavis, Texier, Humier, Portal and others. Great period in music, shame it all disappeared.

Nice article, great music indeed. I loved that era of UK jazz, it had the spirit of AACM but without the politics. Very original approach to impro too, no bebop, just energy and originality. The book looks amazing, but I wouldn't buy a book about LPs you can't find anymore. Too frustrating.

Looks interesting, but it would be useful to know what type of experimental music you're looking for.

In my visits to London's museums, I'm always impressed by the many children in attendance. They're often engaged in an art project. I love that there is no cost of admission so all have access.😊 @lightacandle.bsky.social @mdstamper.bsky.social @anthonymajanlahti.bsky.social @tonylarch.bsky.social

It's a shame journalist don't back each other up. I'd have asked (as the next question), "Why didn't answer the previous question?"

Morning Monday morning… 355 days since leaving X, I’ve hit 1k β€œfollowers” here. But what matters are the happy few who actually take the time to interact and make it fun to be here. After all, for some reason, 1,467 people still follow me on X. If they were interested they’d know I won’t be back…

I'm not sure if it counts, considering books that I've seen suggested, but Carson McCullers "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter", is about solitude and more. Maybe that fits your category?

In french they say 'It's raining string' (Il pleut des cordes), however, you can also say it's raining like a cow pissing (il pleut comme vache qui pisse), which is a goody, but not said in front of grandma. πŸ˜‰
