Great article, an amazing album indeed, and a remarkable musician. I'd be curious to know what/who was in the line-up with the 'Debut' gig in Manchester. I'm amazed at how minimal she's kept her live musicians, yet keep the whole sound of the recordings.

Amazing stuff. I guess this is a good example of people coming to debate/argue a point or position armed with only an opinion, and not facts. Those are the most difficult people to discuss with as they really do not understand what they are saying, yet believe they are right.

I recently borrowed a whole pile of Herbert Howells works from my local lending library. They suffered a similar problem of romanticism. I loved the choral pieces, but less the syrupy strings in the orchestra pieces.

It's a great record, so why not buy two and offer one to a friend. 😉

Love the music of Vaughan Williams, and it's about my part of the UK. However, sometimes it can be a bit 'over' romantic - IMHO.

Definitely, plus 1 for me.
