2 dozen circular cookies decorated with various patterns of indigo starflower, orange marigold, pink and yellow rose, lavender, and green matcha all on white royal icing. A long, oval cookie with white royal icing and indigo starflower, orange marigold and lavender petals

I wanted to do something special for what may be the last batch of cookies I get to bring to the Curiosity/MSL team! My own sugar cookie recipe, with matcha and edible flowers from my #pnw garden 🌿 ☺️ Also see: huge cookie for my husband. Not pictured: snickerdoodles #baking #glutenfree #nasa #jpl

From the valleys below, Rainier appears and disappears with the weather, sometimes hidden for days behind clouds, then suddenly emerging in full majesty on a clear morning - a reminder that even when we can’t see the steady things in our lives, they’re still there.
The mountain has witnessed countless human stories unfold below - moments of struggle and recovery, loss and renewal. Its glaciers have carved and reshaped the landscape over millennia, showing how even the most challenging forces can create something beautiful. The wildflower meadows that bloom each summer at Paradise and Sunrise exist because of that long geological conversation between ice, rock, and time.
For those reading this in the future: take time to find your own “Mount Rainier” - that steady presence that offers perspective when life feels overwhelming. Whether it’s an actual mountain, a favorite tree, a body of water, or even just a quiet corner of your world, these anchor points remind us that we’re part of something larger and more enduring than our immediate struggles.
The mountain teaches patience, persistence, and the quiet strength that comes from weathering many storms while still standing tall.

I’m still standing strong 💪 🏔️

A map showing what BLM and USFS lands would be up for sale in the western CONUS. An image taken of Colorado's Maroon Bells from the still lake before it. In the foreground is the glass lake mirroring the landscape and sky above. A long log on the water reaches out from the left of the frame toward its center. On the other end of the lake is a lush green forest, with the forest stretching up the steep hills that bracket the image. Sitting right in the center of those hills are the Marron Bells - mountain peaks - partially coated in snow, and bathed in the saturated orange glow of the just-rising Sun. Overhead are blue skies with numerous puffy white clouds, some of which are still in the shadow of other mountains.

Millions of acres of public lands are eligible for sale in the Senate budget reconciliation package (as of 6-14). This would be the largest public lands sell-off in US history, and would bypass traditional safeguards such as public hearings & environmental reviews. 1/x

Three jars of packed and spiced picked radishes, waiting for a hot bath. One is labeled “hot” and another “dill”.

Update: ready for the hot bath!

This movie shows the bubbling surface of a distant star, as captured with unprecedented clarity by the ALMA observatory.

R Doradus is a huge star. Each of these bubbles is 50-75 times the diameter of our entire Sun! 🧪🔭
