What a start to the show. Will there be a better record? (I reckon I know the answer already, having glanced at a much later post though not the actual song). Saying that as I type, song 2 is playing - the foundation to thousands of other songs.

I’ve been so lucky to have met some amazing folk.
Singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka was one.
A tornado of talent & enthusiasm.
What an amazing tunesmith he was. Such songs.

On the way out after i/v’ing him for the radio - he squeezed my arm & said β€œGary, I love your energy!”

RIP to a true Pop titan πŸ™.

Neil Sedaka, β€œBreaking Up Is Hard to Do” and β€œLaughter in the Rain” Singer-Songwriter, Dies at 86 The Brooklynite's esteemed body of work also includes "Calendar Girl," "Oh! Carol," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "Where the Boys Are," "Bad Blood" and "Solitaire."

Neil Sedaka was so talented, and he inspired me to follow my dream of being a songwriter.

With love and gratitude and condolences to his family.

I saw them last week. The first band the 14 year old me saw in 1978, and the last band I saw right around now.

More funny now.
The marvellous Brinsley Schwarz.
Trying out the Big Pink look. (Doesn’t Nick Lowe suit the beard?)
Nick’s finest song, and the best known Brinsleys record, is ending this week’s Late Show. And what exactly IS so funny about peace and love and understanding?

Good man, Simon. Taking over a once proud institution and starting again from scratch. Can’t be worse than the last crowd, I suppose.
Good record too. (Feels Funny) But I’m Getting Used To It now on the MB Late Record Show.
