The urgent need to end hepatitis B stigma and discrimination More than 250 million people live with chronic hepatitis B, making it the most common chronic infection worldwide.1 Despite effective tools to prevent transmission, diagnosis, and treatment, hepatitis B is the leading cause of liver cancer globally, with two people dying every minute and little change in hepatitis B mortality in the past 20 years.1 Globally, only 13% of people with hepatitis B are aware of their infection and access to treatment and care is scarce, particularly in low-income and middle-income countries.

Agree with your comments, but this is the key. "Does it matter in day to day interactions?" It's an important Q and one that impinges on the stigma (& by extension health care) of people living w hep B

Mouse model a bit out of context: direct IV injection and immunocompromised. Undetectable HIV can be transmitted via blood transfusion, but that doesn't stop U=U for most every day interactions. Probably the same for hbv.
